Collaborate on an Entity
This how-to walks through sharing a workspace entity with another Thrive user, responding to invites and access requests, and ending access. Recipients need their own Thrive account.
For background, see Collaboration. For public guest links (no account), see Share an Entity instead.
Invite Someone (As Owner)
- Sign in and open the entity you want to share (for example a vacation or habit).
- Open the Access section on the leaf panel.
- Click Invite, search for the user by name or email, and select them.
- Choose an access level: Reader, Commenter, or Writer.
- Confirm the invite.
The other person gets access right away and sees a pending invite under Core → Collaboration → Invites.
To change or remove their access later, return to the Access section on the entity and update or remove the grant.
Acknowledge An Invite (As Recipient)
- Open Core → Collaboration (or the Collaboration widget on the home page).
- On the Invites tab, open the invite or use the quick actions on the card.
- Acknowledge to clear the pending invite, or Cancel if you are the owner withdrawing it before they acknowledge.
You can open the shared entity from Collaboration or from the usual feature list (for example Vacations), where an owner chip marks items that belong to someone else.
Ask For Access
- Open a link to an entity you cannot access.
- On the Access Denied screen, choose Ask for read access or Ask for write access.
- Wait for the owner to accept or reject under Core → Collaboration → Asked of you.
- Track your request under Asking.
Accept Or Reject A Request (As Owner)
- Open Core → Collaboration → Asked of you.
- Review who is asking, for which entity, and at which level.
- Accept to grant access, or Reject to decline.
Stop Collaborating
As owner
- Open the entity’s Access section.
- Remove the collaborator’s grant (or lower their level if you only want to restrict them).
As collaborator
- Open the shared entity’s Access section, or open the grant under Core → Collaboration → Shared with you.
- Click Forget and confirm.
Forget removes your access to that entity. It does not delete the owner’s copy.
Tips
- Prefer inviting at the parent when you mean to share a whole tree (doc folder, smart list, metric). Children often inherit access.
- Use Reader for visibility-only sharing and Writer when the other person should edit.
- Keep an eye on Core → Collaboration (or the home widget) so invites and requests do not sit unanswered.
- Collaboration is between Thrive users. For people without accounts, use Publish.
